How to Play “You’ve Been Booed”

  1. Starting October 1st, secretly leave a treat bag on a neighbor’s doorstep and step away. The mystery of who left it is part of the fun, so don’t sign your name.
  2. The recipient reads the instructions and repeats the gesture by booing another neighbor. The goal is to spread Boo signs throughout the neighborhood. If you start the activity and don’t want to be booed back, print an extra ghost and display it in your window or on your door to show you’ve already been booed.

Note: A ghost sign on a door or window means that household has already been booed. If your chosen recipient already has one, pick someone else so the game keeps moving.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do you play “You’ve Been Booed” at the office?

This is a great office-friendly version for adults. Instead of delivering to neighbors, discreetly place two boo packs on coworkers’ desks before or after office hours or during quieter times like lunch. Delivering two packs helps the activity spread faster; in smaller offices one pack per person can work. After being booed, place the ghost sign on your desk, cubicle or office door.

Can I print these in black and white?

Yes. The printables are designed with minimal color so they look good printed in black and white as well as color.

What else can I add to the Halloween treat bags?

Beyond Butterfingers and SweeTARTS, consider small homemade cookies, Halloween trinkets from the dollar store (rings, stickers, small toys), or a larger basket with a cake mix and baking supplies for a festive baking kit. Choose items that are individually wrapped or easy to tuck into the pouch.
