School’s out and summer has arrived—time to celebrate. After two long years of extra driving for my daughter’s out-of-district middle school, early release days, and major intersection construction, I’m relieved to be done with that chapter. The daily commute is over, I can return to full-time work, and most importantly, my daughter is happy. So this calls for a cocktail and maybe a little party to mark the milestone.

Watching kids grow is bittersweet—parents often say they don’t want them to get older, but we welcome the independence that comes with each milestone. When the oldest was old enough to babysit, my husband and I finally got a few breaks. Those small freedoms are worth celebrating, and this Seafood Michelada felt like the right adult treat to mark another transition.

With National Michelada Day on July 12 approaching, I worked with Clamato® for this recipe. Clamato blends tomato and clam juices, and when combined with beer and a few bold flavors it creates the perfect base for a seafood-forward Michelada. I swapped lime for lemon, added seafood seasoning, and garnished with shrimp for a bright, briny profile. I made mine spicy to suit my mood, but you can adjust the heat to taste.

To complement the spicy Seafood Michelada, I created a simple Lemon Dill Dip that echoes the drink’s flavors. It’s creamy, cool, and tangy—great for dipping a variety of snacks. I kept things easy by using a couple of ready-made items from the deli section so you can assemble a snack spread quickly and enjoy the celebration.

So here it is: a little mom vent, and a refreshing Seafood Michelada for grown-ups to toast milestones. Celebrate the wins, enjoy the moment, and try not to rush the next chapter—just savor it.
